Safety and Accreditation
Safety is at the heart of everything we do at Blackland Farm. Our procedures, training, recruitment and risk assessments are regularly reviewed and independently assessed, and we hold both an AALA licence and LOtC Quality Badge. These recognised accreditations give schools, EVCs and group leaders confidence that our staff, systems, insurance, qualifications and DBS checks are all up to the standards expected for safe, well-run outdoor education. We’ve also put together a range of useful documents below to help you plan your visit with confidence.
Our Health & Safety Policy sets out how we manage risk, protect our visitors and staff, and maintain safe activities across the work we do.
Our Safeguarding Policy sets out how we protect children, young people and vulnerable people, and how we promote their safety and wellbeing.
Our Centre Activity Policy sets out the standards for delivering activities safely, including training standards, DBS checks, and supervision.
Our AALA licence demonstrates that our adventurous activities meet the recognised standards required for licensed providers.
Our LOtC Quality Badge recognises our commitment to high standards in safety, learning, safeguarding and quality.
Our Adventuremark accreditation recognises that our adventurous activities meet recognised industry standards for quality and safety.
We hold £10 million public liability insurance, providing cover and reassurance for our visitors, groups and partners.
Our Generic Site Risk Assessment provides an overview of the key risks onsite and the control measures we have in place to keep visitors safe.
